The KaDeWe Group

BACKGROUND

KaDeWe in Berlin, Alsterhaus in Hamburg and Oberpollinger in Munich are all department stores and members of the KaDeWe Group. For their corporate retail event “Back to School” 2019, we developed an entire design concept to be applicable in all communication tools around the event: in store, both online and offline.

The KaDeWe Group

The KaDeWe Group

BACKGROUND

Located in Berlin City West, KaDeWe counts as one of the biggest department stores in Europe. For their yearly retail campaign “Back to School”, we created a concept and key visuals to be applied on all communication tools around the campaign, in store and online.

The KaDeWe Group

RESULT

A good start to school is spelled “COOL”. Inspired by handwriting, thin lines and iconic symbols we created a fluent pattern and graphics to be seen in multiple formats. The trend of style undercover a glimpse of Memphis-inspired elements updated to a contemporary look corresponding to the New School Cool concept.

Martin Gropius Bau

BACKGROUND

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II the German-Russian Museum Berlin-Karlshorst initiated the temporary exhibition ”Germany-Russia, from confrontation to cooperation” to be exhibited at Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin in 2015. The exhibition gives an insight into German-Russian relations since 1945 and approaches the subject through a fragmentary stream that high lights particular milestones throughout their history. Together with the Berlin architects büroberlin and the media designers Schnellebuntebilder we were invited to develop a multidimensional exhibition concept and design to frame the theme and topic in the most suitable way.

RESULT

The history of German-Russian relations are neither linear nor continuous. The combination of graphic design and architecture emphasize and symbolize the diverse political and cultural dynamics between the two nations. Featured milestones in their history evolve as three-dimensional volumes growing out from the wall graphics. Through implementation of vividness in the entire exhibition design we gave some of the more central exhibits, letters and contracts a framework that engages through curiosity and attraction.

Allied Museum

Task

To create a playful scenographic room concept and visual ideas for a special exhibition at the Allied Museum Berlin that treats the American history of the former Berlin Tempelhof Airport.

www.alliiertenmuseum.de

RESULT

Together with Berlin architects FrankeSteinert we used the old airport it self as a source of inspiration for the room design. The entrance opens up with a large photo of the hangar and is followed with walls covered by a motif of heaven to create more depth and refer to the original location. As a room divider we used an abstracted round arch that embodies the building of the Berlin Tempelhof Airport.
